"I am awaiting reports of a third trend – reports of increased filings for modifications of existing child support and maintenance awards."

Well, Daniel, I can certainly report back the results of my next hearing which was adjourned due to his no-show at the last. It's going to be very interesting as the Ex has repeatedly violated the order and both failed to disclose assets/household income... and recently has been arrested/released for an unknown probation reason. Is the Judge going to remain true to his word and order jail this time? Or is the Judge going to consider this new information to be "non-willful violations?" Who knows?

Hi Dan, I have written a few blog entries on this subject on both my blog, The Divorce Saloon (www.marionlewisesq.blogspot.com), and my main website www.marionlewises.com. I think the current melt down is affecting low and middle income filers of divorce, than it is people in a higher socio-economic group. Those in the low to middle income bracket are definitely finding more prudence in either staying together, or filing their own petition. In the higher income brackets, there is still enough assets there to pay for the divorce. It may even make sense for some to file now, especially if the monied spouse is the plaintiff. That way, the "equitable distribution" will feel a lot less than the proverbial, "I am being taken to the cleaners" feeling that used to proliferate...

I like your blog, though. It has a good tone to it. I would not mind exchanging links with you. The Divorce Saloon is also a law blog, but the tone is different, so I think your readers and mine can read both blogs and come away with something different. Let me know.
